We are designed to run on carbohydrates. One of the simplest, most basic carbohydrates, glucose, is our primary fuel. By our design, to operate efficiently, brain tissues, red blood cells and cells of the kidneys the body needs carbohydrates.

The popular version of the fad diet today is the high-protein diet. You may know somebody on a high-protein diet who’s lost 25 pounds in 25 days eating all the butter, bacon and eggs. There’s one hitch – something the authors of these diets will not tell you about: If you’re losing weight on a protein diet, you’re risking your future health.

When you take the carbohydrates away, your body lacks glucose and is forced to burn its next fuel – fat. When your body burn fat instead of glucose, "ketones" (byproducts) are produced, creating a "ketosis," which leads to a appetite loss and water loss…and also to nausea, fatigue and low blood pressure. Carbohydrate-restricted diets simulate the metabolic state that can lead to serious illness.

You must severely restrict carbohydrates in order to remain in ketosis. More than 90 calories of carbohydrate (a half of a potato) could take you out of ketosis and cause you to become hungry again. Most people must remain in this state of sickness on a long-term basis in order to maintain weight loss from a high-protein diet.

Low-carbohydrate, high-protein diets contain significant amounts of the very foods the Cancer Society and the Heart Association tell us contribute to our most common diseases.

I could continue on and on all the "terrible" consequences of a low -carb diets. But I noticed that people who experienced famine after the war became very strong and usually lived a long life.

I also noticed that fasting people have the same result in common. One well-known easten weight loss teaching says that "your health is on your tongue"... I will explain: the more your tongue is red, the more you are healthy. And vice versa: the more your tongue is covered with a white coating the more unhealthy person you are.

Despite of all bad processes in your body when you are using low-carb diet not only your fat is burning out, but also a lot of toxines.

I have tried myself this technick and recommended to my students. Nobody died, but we had amazing fatloss results and red tongues:)
